Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My morning begins by intellectually challenging my students with the quote of day. Then we move to chess where they practice their chess strategies. They strive to express their creativity through art and technology while integrating math and science.

My students are gifted and talented students who are striving to become world class scholars.

We are a Title I school. These students are limited in resources. I serve four different campuses. All of my students are divergent thinkers and like to be challenged in the classroom. I serve 90 students from third through fifth grade.

My Project

The materials that I am requesting will help my scholars improve their chess skills. Sometimes in our classes we have an odd number of students, so one student doesn't get the opportunity to play chess. With the Square Off chess set that "odd" student will have the opportunity to practice because they will have an opponent. The Square Off board using an iPad moves an opponent's piece on its own.

The Square Off board will be a wonderful addition to our classroom to help improve our chess game.

Playing chess helps my students become problem solvers. Also in our district we hold a district-wide chess tournament. The Chess Set will give them the ability to be a step ahead of everyone else. Thank you in advance for your support!
