Chess Club Champions
Help me give my students chess boards and books for the chance to participate in a chess club.
I am working in a neighborhood school in the Phoenix area. We have a very diverse student population. Within our mixture of students we have many needs. As Title 1 students, all of our families are not able to support their children beyond the basic needs.
I try to engage them in fun lessons as often as possible, and as a result I've seen them engage with the content more than I could have every imagined.
My students have taken on my attitude of, if we're not loving it or laughing about it we're not learning it.
We're building lifelong learners and trying to instill pride in their own education.
We have a very diverse group of learners here in the Phoenix area. Our students are coming together by challenging each other in chess. I would like to build upon their interest in the game by running a local chess club.
Please help our students learn and practice chess by supporting our new club.
We are in need of several sets of pieces and boards so we can have as many students playing at at time as possible. The tactile movement of pieces, instead of just online, will help our diverse group of learners develop as chess players. Our students will greatly benefit by being able to play more regularly.
Through their play, they'll learn about strategy, grace in defeat, and so much more.
