My Students

We have a group of students who love to learn and enjoy building relationships with teachers and other students. Many of our students cannot afford the equipment necessary to participate, but they give great effort in the classroom and in their extracurricular activities to ensure they are successful after high school. Peach County is a rural community in Middle Georgia; however, our students participate in a variety of activities that we offer, including academic teams, various sports, clubs and organizations. I love it when I have previous students come by the room just to say hey, check on me, and wished that I taught all of their science classes. I love when I get an email or letter from a student who graduated that tells me they were so thankful to have a teacher who was tough on them and reinforced the value of work ethic because it has helped make them successful in their career path.

My Project

Our district built a brand new state of the art high school facility with an excellent chemistry lab. However, many of the chemicals from the old high school were outdated and unsafe for transport to the new school.

Please help me restock our brand new chemistry lab with chemicals to give my gifted/advanced content chemistry students the opportunity to experience hands on chemistry labs instead of settling for virtual labs before heading off to college.

These chemicals will be used to design 8-10 labs that include detailed lab reports to help the students build critical thinking skills and learn lab safety using real materials. I fully believe that students learn best using a hands on approach as opposed to a virtual learning environment in chemistry.
