This is the second-year of our charter school with grades K through 9. We began this school year with five hundred seventy students. The majority of our students are military dependents. We are located adjacent to a military institution which is in the low-income region of our city.
I teach nine sections of STEM to a total of one hundred sixty-five students in grades 6th, 7th and 8th grade, who are fascinated by science and love doing labs and experiments.
We need tools to help make chemistry and meteorology alive in our labs!
My Project
Chemistry is our next unit where we will study the periodic table. The Elemental Block set will be the perfect study tool for students having a difficult time grasping the three major groups of elements and their properties. The Density Cube Set will be used for demonstrations performed by students. After the demonstration students will be able to individually study density with their own density study kits.
All students will get to see and experience the effects of density using the Floating Density Spheres and creating their own density columns.
During our meteorology unit, students will study Galileo and use their observations to compare his thermometer to the Celsius and Fahrenheit one we have in our classroom. They will also compare their observations on the digital Weather Wall Barometer to the weather ball to see if their results are the same.
Students are excited for their upcoming science units.
