My students need access to updated periodic tables throughout their high school chemistry career. Our class Periodic Table wall poster is greatly outdated as it was created in 1987, thus we need a new one!
My students do not have access to current chemistry resources within the classroom. They struggle with seeing the relevance of the topic when they do not see the newest revelations in science. Help me let them see that science is a forever changing content area by providing them an updated view.
I have around 100 chemistry students in a given year.
They are a part of a rural district that only has 500 students in the high school level. Many of my students plan on continuing their family farms, both produce and animal, and need a strong science background in order to do so.
They participate in Ag Science and FFA and Chemistry gives them supplemental information that will be very useful over the course of their lives.
My Project
I use my wall hanging Periodic Table on a daily basis. I am always pointing out relationships and characteristics throughout lessons. The additional pocket table will assist the students in having a durable, up to date, reference materials with them constantly. This will ensure that they are always prepared for science, within and outside of the classroom.
This project will allow my students to see the importance of this ever changing content area.
They will have updated access to these reference materials, which shows them that science is far from dead. This not only is helpful within the classroom, but may also help kindle a love of the content for my current students.
