Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a title 1 school in Southern Texas where a majority of my students are on free and reduced lunch. Our campus was not directly impacted by Hurricane Harvey however, my students and their neighborhoods were impacted by the storm and massive flooding that followed.
My students range from Special Education and ESL to regular education students.
Technology will help bridge the gap between my SPED and ESL students and my regular education students.
With the use of technology my students will be preparing for college and careers where they are expected to be able to use technology on a daily basis. Many of my students come from homes where they do not have access to technology.
My Project
The iPads will make a huge impact for my students by increasing their understanding and knowledge of science and how it applies to their life. With these iPads my students will be able to take virtual field trips, conduct research, run labs and type lab reports. I teach SPED and ESL and the iPads will help these students type their lab reports and will reduce the amount of mistakes they have. This cross curriculum intergration with writing will further benefit not only my students science skills but will also improve their literacy and writing skills. These iPads will also allow my students to access interactive periodic tables which is beneficial because it allows them to locate more information and relate to the table even more.
