Teachers work to address inequities and help students reach their full potential. Our schools are intentionally diverse and integrated, enrolling students through a zip code-based lottery to create schools that are reflective of the communities we serve. Teachers recognize the value of having students from different backgrounds working together and employing various approaches to accommodate diverse learners without academic tracking. Our school has an acute focus on college entrance and college completion for all students.
HTH teachers practice a learner-centered, inclusive approach that supports and challenges each student.
Students pursue their passions through projects and reflect on their learning. Recognizing that identity development and personal growth occur in the context of community, our schools foster relationships of trust, caring, and mutual respect among students and adults through program design elements such as small school size, small classes, home visits, advisories, and student collaborative work.
HTH school projects integrate hands and minds and incorporate inquiry across multiple disciplines, leading to meaningful and beautiful work. Students engage in work that matters to them, their teachers, and the world outside of school.
My Project
This project includes a wide variety of supplies for my classroom! This includes lab chemicals for experiments, office supplies for classroom use, as well as social-emotional supplies for student use.
A college-prep chemistry classroom needs an assortment of chemicals and supplies to provide a comprehensive experience for its students.
The chemicals included in this project include a variety of chlorides for the flame test. This experiment is always a student favorite and produces a variety of flame colors when burned in ethanol. Other chemicals will be used in other lab experiments later in the semester. The office supplies include staplers to staple in papers for their lab notebooks and 3-ring binders for their chemistry binders.
Finally, there are LEGO to support my elective class and for students to take social-emotional breaks with friends in between classes and assignments. Thank you for your support!
