My students need chef jackets in order to properly work in the state of the art kitchen. These students are trained in the art of culinary in order to obtain an industry certification in ServSafe.

My Students
My school consist of a group of young adults who were displaced from Hurricane Maria and who are motivated and driven to perform well academically and are active in their community. They enjoy challenging themselves in rigorous advanced placement, honors, and college dual enrollment courses. When they are not working hard in class, they are actively practicing to take a ServeSafe Exam which will allow them to obtain an industry certification in Culinary. This certification will allow my students to become competitive in the work force when looking to obtain employment or continue their studies in the field of culinary arts. They also are constantly looking for colleges and scholarships to apply to. Many of my student scholars enjoy giving back to the community by participating in various community service projects. Because of the discipline that’s embedded in the school's academic program, many of the students go off to college to accept academic scholarships and/or pursue a four year degree. Although, these students work hard to perform well academically, they find it challenging to have the necessary chef coat to protect themselves when working in the kitchen.
My Project
My students need chef jackets in order to properly work in the state of the art kitchen. These students are trained in the art of culinary in order to obtain an industry certification in ServSafe. These scholars are placed in a culinary arts class where they are able to obtain the skills and training needed in order to obtain certification in ServSafe. This industry certification will allow students obtain college credits and secure employment in the field of culinary arts and provide them with a stepping stone when seeking a degree in culinary arts in a four-year university.
These jackets will provide the students with the needed coverage when working and learning in a state of the art kitchen.
When students go out in the field for their internship opportunities, these students will be taken seriously since they will look the part.
