My twenty-sixth year of teaching is definitely looking different than I ever imagined. Students have returned to the building after fluctuating between remote and hybrid instruction over the past two academic years.
Post pandemic instruction has me looking at the social-emotional needs of students during the delivery of lessons and their interactions.
Fourth graders are curious, creative, and inquisitive 9 and 10-year-olds. They have a vast range of abilities and levels of confidence. They enjoy challenges and teamwork tasks. The fourth graders are the oldest in our K-4 school. I aim to create an environment where students can safely work collaboratively while social distancing in order to develop the skills that will help them to succeed.
My goal is to facilitate learning while building students' academic and social confidence. Guiding the students to find academic success and helping each child to develop social skills to help them interact with others are the rewarding parts of my day. I encourage each child to take responsibility for learning through perseverance.
My Project
Students are wearing masks at school. These water bottles will help the students have easy access to water during the academic learning day. I will personalize the student's individual water bottles with their first name to ensure they only use their own bottle.
Increasing the ease and availability of water during the school day will promote water as an ideal beverage choice while keeping the students hydrated.
By increasing water intake students will benefit by supporting their immune systems, having greater focus and clarity during the school day. I hope to instill the importance of water intake at a young age while ensuring plenty of access to water during the day.
