My students need a cello.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Have you ever dreamed of playing an instrument but couldn't because either your parents could not afford it or there was not one available at school? This is a problem most of my students face. We have an enormous waiting list for students to get into our orchestra but not enough instruments.
Our students are wonderful and hard working.
We are a charter school that is over 95% free lunch. Our school is arts infused but new, so we are working very hard to get all of the materials needed to provide meaningful arts experiences for them. We started our first orchestra this year and have a huge waiting list. Most all of our students want to be a part of the orchestra. We have a very joyful environment, a very happy staff, and a very happy student body. Our students deserve every opportunity that we can provided them with. This includes making sure there are enough cellos for our orchestra.
Our orchestra rehearses after school twice a week and three times per week in the mornings. By adding extra cellos, it will also free up a violin so that another child may participate. Our students will perform at various concerts and music competitions this year. I really want them to perform in our community as much as possible so that they can have several meaningful performance experiences. Our students will be able to participate in orchestra all the way through their senior year of high school. This may even open the doors to scholarships in their futures. Your donation can truly impact our students futures.
You will help more students take part in a growing string program by donating to us.
Cellos are very expensive so having our own would be great. It would help our orchestra to sound very professional. It was not in the budget to purchase any this year so I really hope that you can help us!
