The girls in the cheerleading program are determined individuals who not only are leaders on and off the sidelines but are also leaders in the school. These cheerleaders strive to do their best in the classroom, as well as strive to be role models and good citizens within the school and on the squad. With much support and determination in the classroom, I also want these girls to have support and determination when it comes to performing at football and basketball games.
Each cheerleader wants to become better in the sport but do not always have the funds to pay for what is needed to help reach their performance goals.
The cheerleading budget is very small so it is necessary that we supplement it through fundraising efforts. The girls are excited to begin not just cheerleading, but building a stronger program that allows them to truly experience a successful performance on and off the sideline.
My Project
Over the course of the year, the cheerleading squad has experienced challenges. The cheerleading program was nearly to an end, as the school was unable to find a coach for the season. With that being said, our athletic budget is very small so it is difficult to receive equipment paid for by our budget. The girls worked hard during both football and basketball but were doing so without proper safety equipment to help them build up to their performances. It is important that the girls have cheerleading mats in the program. This allows practices to become more efficient and the girls are able to feel safe when practicing their tumbling skills and stunts that are displayed during ballgames. Donations to this project will support girls who are great student-athletes and will allow them more opportunities to better their skills as athletes.
