My Students
Our students are diverse and come from every ward in the District. We serve 333 students in our high school. 80% of students qualify for free or reduced meals and 32% are considered at-risk. Many of our students come from households that speak Spanish, Vietnamese, or Amharic at home.
Our school works to create a school culture that fosters learning, empowers each student, and encourages community.
Through our project-based learning model, students engage through hands-on learning that helps them take on real-world challenges. We couple our strong focus on academics and rigor with social and emotional learning, knowing that our students will be the future leaders of our community. We value teamwork, collaboration, and self-discipline. Our afterschool programs also continue this work to the after school hours, helping build traditions and community.
My Project
Our High School is going into its 3rd year with cheerleading. We are in need of practice wear for our girls. Cheerleaders often forget practice clothes or don't have practice clothes to wear.
More than half of the girls are in their first year of cheerleading and don't have the necessary clothing to practice in.
We'd love for all of our cheerleaders to be able to have a successful practice by having on practice attire. At times, girls show up to practice in jeans and are unable to fully practice as jeans are restrictive to the full movements needed for practice.
Supporting our project will assist these cheerleaders in feeling more like a cohesive team.
