This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My cheer team is made up of amazing individuals. They excel in the classroom, volunteer over 500 hours a year in the community, lead school spirit and support their athletic teams, AND are highly competitive winning numerous competitions as well as a National title this year. We also are participating in the new CIF sport of STUNT. Theses girls work tirelessly to be the best they can.

Our school is a Title 1 school and we serve the majority of low income families.

Many of the athletes have over come personal and family obstacles and all of them push themselves to be better, They excel in academics, as a team we have a 3.4 GPA. Most girls are involved in other activities on campus such as drama, choir, ASB and other sports.

My Project

Having practice mats is crucial to the safety and growth of our program. We have over 100 athletes practicing at the same time and we need to be able to ensure safety while stunting and tumbling to avoid injuries. Both middle and high school are nationally winning programs and that was achieved working on grass, very old mats, and limited weather.

We have the opportunity to practice in doors but need to have the flooring matted to be able to practice and enhance our tumbling and stunting skills.

We have chosen to purchase mats from Dicks Sporting goods. We will practice on theses mats everyday not only this year but also for many years to come.
