I am the cheerleading coach at Dixon Middle and Dixon High Schools in Holly Ridge, NC. We are small schools and due to the size of our school and the socio economic status of our area, we do not generate as much revenue through our sports events as other schools do. We use this revenue to purchase the essential equipment and uniforms, but do not have excess to purchase safety mats for my cheerleaders. My squad has a lot of potential and determination, but many days we are unable to practice stunts because either the gym is being used by a sports team or it is too cold or raining outside where we usually practice. A set of safety mats would be used by the middle school, Junior Varsity and Varsity cheerleading squads for many years to come. The mats would allow the squads to perform stunts at football games. As of now, we do not build stunts because we cheer on the asphalt track around the football field. These mats are portable and we could use them at practices as well as football games. Help our schools become competitive, SAFELY!
