Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have been teaching for ten years. I enjoy the challenges that the students bring to the classroom. My students are from all walks of life. I anticipated that I would be teaching multi-cultures and want to be the best teacher to my students. I went to school to get my Masters in Multi-Cultural Education. I wanted to be able to connect with each and every one of my students. The students and I have a mutual respect for each other.
I teach in a low income/high poverty school.
The students attend each day ready to learn. The students enjoy school. After a school break, many of the students say they are happy to be back in the classroom.
The students in my classroom are "super students" who are ready to learn, unwavering, prepared, excellent and trustworthy. The students are eager to learn and are very excited about being active learners.
My Project
I have spent a great deal of time and money to create a well-stocked classroom library for my 6th grade readers. We currently do not have a system for checking out books that is successful. We can minimize misplaced or lost books with a better checkout system. IntelliScanners are similar to public library book scanners, but on a much smaller level. Books can be scanned and sorted by topic, genre, and other features. Students can use the IntelliScanner to check out books, set up reminders for book due dates, and send out notices for books being returned late. Bringing an IntelliScanner system to our classroom would improve student responsibility and accountability for the book checkout process. Additional bar code labels will enable students to check out our math and science supplemental materials and other media, such as educational DVDs or games.
Maintaining an organized classroom library is a complex and time-consuming task, but it doesn't have to be!
Your donation of an Intelliscanner and bar code labels will help organize books and other media for my 6th grade readers.
