Help me give my students a reading library more on their level. The shelves and bins would be a better way to store books so the students can find just what they want easily.
I have an amazing job and have some amazing kids this year. But to be completely honest, like America's Got Talent, I say that every year! My students are ready to learn and are not afraid to try unfamiliar things. We are small but mighty.
A special education category does not stop us, it only makes us work harder!
Hands-on materials are the best way for us to achieve our objectives. We are officially an Intellectually Disabled class, but we contain other disabilities as well.
My Project
My students are in the very low range of readers. They are in the third and fourth grade and already know that they are different. They have already experienced failures where they see other students progressing. I am needed low-level reading books, so that my students can be successful in an area that is very difficult for them. The shelves and bins will allow me to have more books out for them to read. My current selection has to be put in boxes until Christmas then switched out. If I had a large shelf, I could separate the levels and have all the books out for them to see and read. This would give them a wider selection to choose from.
