I teach French at an urban 9-12 high school where my students come from diverse backgrounds. We all share a passion to learn about the French culture, language, and history of the French-speaking world.
I am fortunate to be able to have many of my students in French class for 2-3 years and because of that, I am able to create a unique, positive classroom climate where all students feel welcome.
I have been working on personalized learning to accelerate the learning of all students. By personalizing learning, students have a choice in the pace, place and path that they learn French which helps them set their own goals and take charge of their learning.
My Project
During our personal learning time, students complete a variety of choice activities to help them apply the French language that we have been working on in class. One activity that helps all students level up their French is working with me during the teacher led small group station.
The small group station allows me to meet students where they are at and push them to level up their French.
The chart stand, chart paper and markers will help me display the different ways students can level up their French in an easy to see format. Plus, we will be able to post these around the room to keep the language we learned fresh in our minds. The cup holder will be perfect for organizing the markers so that they are within easy reach while creating anchor charts.
In addition, the remote clicker will help me stay at the small group station while still being able to update the presentation on the board so students in the rest of the class know what to work on next. This will save me time from having to get up so I can work longer with my students. Every minute counts!
