Mrs. Miller-Ahmed from Milwaukee WI is requesting classroom basics through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need chart paper for science presentations and anchor charts.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My K-4 through 3rd grade scientists attend a high-poverty school in Wisconsin. I am extremely fortunate to be their elementary science teacher, and I am the only science teacher in our district for this age group. Our school has a new lab, and the students go two times a week to participate in hands-on activities that explore life, earth, and physical sciences. They are also involved in STEM activities that explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. They are excited and eager to learn, and one day they may become scientists themselves.
A big part of being a scientist is sharing what you learned with others. In our STEM lab, the students are involved in scientific experiments, engineering projects, and learning through observations. They are excited by what they have learned and want to share it with their classmates and other students. This chart paper will allow them to share their knowledge with others. The students can use this paper to create anchor charts that will hang in the classroom as a reference for such things as the names of planets, the needs of animals, and the steps of the scientific process.
The students will use these charts as a review of information already discussed, as a reference for future learning, and in small groups as a way to write down what they have learned to present to the rest of the class.
They can even share it with a different grade level. Your donation is greatly appreciated because this type of paper is not available at our school and is a much-needed resource so that the students can chart their future to being scientists, technologists, engineers, and mathematicians.
