This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am excited to be moving from fifth grade to sixth grade with my students this year. They are an amazing group of students that I have been lucky enough to teach in second, fifth, and now sixth grade. My school serves students from Kindergarten through eighth grade. We are a title one school and all our students are eligible to receive free lunches. My students are hardworking and eager to learn. We are moving to a room with very little furniture and desperately need a place to create anchor charts for student use.
My amazing readers would definitely being able to gather together around the easel and chart their ideas so they can be posted in the room for reference.
My Project
Our students need a place to create and collaborate to make anchor charts that will help them with their reading and writing skills. Students will gather around the easel and work together to brainstorm and generate ideas in Reading and Writing. They will use chart paper on the easel and they be able to display their work in the classroom. The easel will also provide a place for students to store materials that we use when we gather together for our small group Reading and Writing instruction time. This mobile easel also provides a place for the teacher to model skills and strategies the students are learning.
