This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
The twenty-five students in my kindergarten really love hands on activities. The school is in a high poverty neighborhood. Eighty-five percent of the children in the school receive free school lunch.
The parents and administration at my school are only able to provide the very basic supplies for the classroom. Although the building is only twelve years old it does not have the proper boards for an early childhood classroom.
My class really needs an easel/board/ pocket chart stand the students can use during our group activities on the rug and during small group work.
The easel will give them more opportunities to participate in hands on activities during math reading and writing lessons. While using the board they will get chances to model and practice the skills they need to master this year.
