Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
From strumming the guitar to improvisation, students play along to backing tracks to build technique and musical knowledge. Through careful planning, each student preforms an original composition as a small ensemble or alone at the winter concert.
My students are the bright spot in my day.
After three years at Lakeland I have taught all students and make lifelong bonds with many teachers and parents. Last year, I purchased Guitars to kick start an instrumental music program for my students. One year later, my students can not get enough. With eleven guitars at our disposal, students share in class and our guitars receive a lot of attention.
My Project
Every class we review and experience new techniques and concepts through preforming along side and behind backing tracks. Students experience jazz swing, disco beats, funk rhythm, and folk favorites. They build knowledge of keys, chords, rhythms, bass and guitar techniques.
With Donors Choose, I may put guitars into each students hand during class time.
I receive the joy of watching them grow but your donation will give they the ability to soar. My returning students testify learning an instrument has added a new perspective on coming to school.
