Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 4th grade multiple subjects in a lower socioeconomic community where 100% of students receive free school lunch. For a few years we were without the use of a school library due to the lack of staff, and currently we have a part-time library aide. In addition, our school library is considered outdated and does not have enough books for our school community.
In this school community, students do not have as many opportunities to be exposed to the different genres of literature. Our school does not house classroom sets of literature books for our students which limits their literature experience. With exposure to different literature, students may enjoy reading, experience imagination and creativity through reading, and will want to practice their reading through a variety of fun, engaging books. Our school staff is committed to providing the children with as many educational and rich experiences as possible to make them well-rounded citizens. Donors would be greatly appreciated in their effort to help me enrich my students' reading.
I would like a donation of 30 copies of "Charlotte's Web" to enrich my students' literature experience. This book will provoke the interest of students who may not have been benefiting from a state-mandated core program such as Open Court Reading. Students will express more interest with their very own copies rather than having to share a copy and this set of books will motivate them to enjoy reading. Their is no greater joy for a teacher other than motivating their students to be better readers. Reading is the path to success!

My students will be more motivated to reach out for more books in the future when they realize how enjoyable, creative, and fun books can be.
