As a teacher in a school district with a variety of students, my students are faced with regular challenges on a daily basis. Despite these many obstacles, they bring innovation and a drive to learn!
The real everyday struggles that my students face are magnified by limited access to individual resources.
Their drive to learn new things is astounding. Even my most challenging students become engaged in our Project Based Learning efforts throughout the year, and crave to explore the unknown.
My Project
My students need access to technology on a daily basis. Our school cannot provide our students with a one to one device opportunity. As a result, these children are automatically set at a disadvantage. We have slowly been working to provide a better student to Chromebook ratio in the classroom and now we need a place to store and charge the 8 Chromebooks we have!
All of my students throughout the day need access to these resources to make them competitive in this modern world!
Many of my students have limited proficiency in using technology for finding reliable resources, use of online cloud storage programs such as Google classroom, and learning to be a responsible digital citizen. The charging station will help us to get our Chromebooks organized and charged throughout the entire day! This will be important for all of my classes especially at the end of the day!
Students having day long access to these devices will open doors to our inquiry-based instruction. Having daily access to an electronic tool will allow for deeper exploration with the limited time students have in out testing driven society. Digital access will allow them to find out details and facts that normally take days to discover through exhausting library explorations.
I love that students will have access to this technology throughout the day and also practice good organizational skills when taking care of our Chromebooks!
