My Students
Career and Technical education classes allow students to start exploring different avenues that interest them and prepare them not only for high school but prepare them for life. Not only do CTE classes prepare students for their future, they combine every subject they take in school and then apply what they learn into the real world. What better way to understand algebra then by using it to manage food costs for a restaurant? How about understanding how chemical reactions work through baking cakes and cookies? How about learning how to create food blogs, create menus, and design a restaurant layout? This is what keeps students engaged in class, applying everything to real life.
My 7th and 8th grade students come from all walks of life; low income, middle income, broken homes, single parent home.
They have also been displaced due to Hurricane Maria. My goal is to teach them, not only about the wonderful world of culinary arts, but to also integrate as many areas as possible so they can be well-rounded as they prepare to enter high school and the workplace with as much knowledge as possible.
My Project
By receiving this chromebook charging cart, students will have everything they need to care for their chromebooks. The storage/charging cart allows us to keep our new chromosome in perfect condition, safe, and constantly charged and ready to go.
Many of my students do not have access to computers at home and for my English-Language Learners, they will have instant access to online translation programs to help them communicate, participate, and build confidence both in the classroom and in life.
With these Asus Chromebooks, students learn how to create digital menus, create production sheets in Excel, work in Google suite, write resumes, write investor letters, learn to write food blogs and so much more. Having enough technology in the classroom will allow students to become comfortable using different programs that can enhance their learning and language during class, and be able to receive help instantly and not have to wait until the next class.
