Help me give my students a neat space to charge their Chromebooks. Chromebooks are a wonderful way to gain access to research, visuals, media, and leveled texts. Having an area to store and charge them is essential.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The K-8 school I work at is in a low socioeconomic, urban area. According to the 2017-2018 Strategic Profile, written by the State Department of Education, our need is higher than many schools within our own district. 38.7% of our students are identified as ELL, 81.3% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and our school has identified 12.8% of the population as having disabilities. The playing field needs to be leveled with resources so my students can receive the educational equity they deserve. I am grateful to DonorsChoose.org for allowing me the opportunity to find resources my students need to prepare themselves for our ever-evolving 21 century, globalized world.
I am an extremely passionate social studies teacher, in my eighth year of teaching, and I absolutely love my students.
It is exciting watching them begin to grow into global citizens with bright ideas and enthusiasm for their own civic responsibility for the world around them. I want to help provide my students with the opportunity to not only become strong classroom learners, but to be life long learners who contribute as citizens to a strong future for their community.
My Project
My students are passionate about current events, debating, learning about ways to help their communities, and helping non-profit organizations. Research is at the heart of all of these activities for them and, therefore so are their newly received Chromebooks.
Currently, my students do not have a space to charge their Chromebooks in a functional way for our classroom.
They must get locked in the closet when we are not using them, but there are no plugs there. Although I try my best to charge them before class, students often run out of power and must string the chargers throughout the classroom as we are using them.
I would like to give my students a proper place to keep all Chromebooks stored and charged, so they will last for a long time to come. Having these items will allow my students the opportunity to always have charged Chromebooks with full batteries to keep up with their research, being the change makers they are.
