Mr. Peinert from Baltimore MD is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need the Kensington Charge & Sync Cabinet with charging cables to keep our tablets charged and secure making them useful for learning, putting much-needed technology, innovation, and access into their hands while protecting it.

I want my students to be critical thinkers, problem solvers and active participants in their own learning. The greatest challenge I face in getting them there is lack of relevant, well-supported technology they can use, not only to enhance their learning, but also to take control of their learning.
I am a committed teacher that is willing to work hard to be a great teacher; however, I cannot do it alone.
We are a Title I School where the students receive free breakfast and lunch. 99% of my students are African American and come from many diverse backgrounds including English Language Learners and families with low incomes. These factors don't phase them; I see each and every one of them working to get the most out of the classroom. Despite significant challenges, they come to school each day in the Baltimore City School District to do their best. Smart phones, tablets, and the Common Core State Standards are causing a paradigm shift in education. Unfortunately, due to the digital divide, our most disadvantaged students cannot participate, which widens the existing achievement gap. It is my job as a teacher to bridge the digital divide and achievement gap.
The Kensington Charge and Sync Cabinet and cables will keep our tablets protected, refreshed and ready for another day as we everything from geography, literacy, math, and science to financial literacy. These topics are a must and tablets are great tools that can make being in class learning about these various content areas in my class but also make it interactive and fun! My students will use their well-protected and charged-up tablets to enhance their learning in my classroom. The charging stations will allow for multiple students across an entire school day to take advantage of the technology, as I create individualized lessons for them. I have been doing a large financial literacy project with Junior Achievement using the tablets and I have also been able to customize lessons and provide technological support for students' learning, through apps on the tablets that will support not just financial literacy but also other topics relevant to social studies, science and math while giving them access to our website mrpsocialstudies.com
Donations to this project will protect and add to the technology investment we've already made in my classroom.
The biggest problem is our tablets that have been donated are hard to always charged and ready for the students. It will also help ensure that the tablets are protected and safe while being available to many students when needed, rather than just some of the time. Having charged tablets will help strengthen my lessons while putting much-needed technology, innovation, and access into my students hands each and everyday. Will You Help Me?
