My students need a safe place to charge their iPads. We will create charging stations from the crates, power strips, and zip ties. We will use the sharpeners to keep the " old tech" at the ready.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a school in which quality education, strong character building, and community are highly valued. I am blessed to be able to teach a fourth/fifth combination class. Most of my students are English Language Learners. It is imperative for them to be given a safe and exciting learning environment to build their speaking, reading, and writing skills across all disciplines. These skills are essential for their growth as successful students and active citizens. It is my goal to foster an excitement for learning which will help to create a classroom full of lifelong learners.
My students come from families living at or below the poverty line.
Their parents often work multiple jobs just to keep food on the table, clothes on their backs, and a roof over their heads. School is their safe haven, sometimes it's the one place that's truly theirs.
My Project
The charging stations we create from the crates, power strips, and zip ties will provide a safe place for charging and storing iPads in class.
We are a 1:1 iPad school and most of our students don't have access to an outlet at home to charge their iPads.
The outlets at home are used by older family members for their electronics as well as to run appliances and lighting.
While iPads are nice there will always be a need for pencils in classrooms and heavy duty sharpeners are needed to keep up with the daily sharpening demands of busy classrooms.
