This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in one of the toughest neighborhoods in a city stricken by poverty in the most wealthy county in Connecticut. Unfortunately, my school struggles just as much as my students. We have limited resources especially when it comes to books and literature. Students are readings below grade level as they enter high school and battle through the next four years before they get to college.

My students are unique because they truly do love to come to school.

They often find comfort in the walls that they do not get at home and connect with teachers and see them as their mentors. It is necessary that we must do better for them. Education will help my students survive where they are from.

My Project

In a post-COVID school day, students have to be able to have access to their laptops no matter what. Many have damaged chargers, and it is often too expensive to fix. This results in students struggling to be able to complete their assignments and continue their learning. These laptop chargers will provide support for students that need it while providing a backup for those who have left their chargers at home. It will continue to let students learn and continue their studies throughout the day. These will also allow for students to seamlessly make the switch to full distance learning if they are required to quarantine.
