This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are teenagers and young adults with a primary diagnosis of Autism. Whether they are greeting their friends in the morning, requesting help or making a joke, my students have a lot to say. My students use augmentative and alternative communication to help them speak. They are in need of proper equipment to allow their voices to be heard loud and clear throughout the day. No matter what method you use to communicate, every voice deserves to be heard.
My Project
"Communication is not only the essence of being human, but also a vital property of life." My students are high schoolers with a primary diagnosis of Autism. Many of my students use Augmentative and Alternative Communication to help them communicate.
My students have a lot to say.
Since they use a different mode of communication, it is vital that their devices are fully charged. Chargers become lost or damaged. My students need access to spare chargers so that their devices can be used throughout the day. An uncharged device is a missed communication opportunity.
