Mrs. Pearce from Darlington SC is requesting instructional technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students access to instructional material through oral accommodations. Headphones will allow each student to have their own pair. The power strips will keep their school issued computers charged.

My students are my babies. They are, however, all in high school. To me this makes no difference. When you walk through my door and you become my student, you also become one of my babies.
I am a LD (learning disabilities) teacher, which just means we learn differently.
I teach at the high school level. I feel I can relate to my students as I also deal with a learning disability. I remember the struggle of school and how frustrated I would get. My parents are amazing and helped me find ways to cope. I want to be the one that my kids can rely on. I want to be the one to let them know it’s okay to be frustrated, just do not give up. Yes, we have LD; that just means we learn differently.
Many of my LD students have oral accommodations. This allows them to access instructional materials beyond their reading level. By giving each child their own set of headphones, I hope to provide them with ownership and pride, in addition to allowing them access to the instructional material.
When assessing students using their accommodations you may have many of them on different instructional levels or grades.
With the ability for each student to listen to their assessment through headphones on their school issued computer there are fewer distractions for them and their peers. Many of my students also use the headphones to calm the noise around them, helping them focus on the task at hand. The power strips will keep all the technology charged.
