Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is in a low socioeconomic neighborhood and receives free breakfast and lunch. Parents are supportive and do their best with their abilities to help support my efforts in teaching their children. The community also does what they can to help and support the school.
My students are all unique and special in their own way.
While they may have developmental delays, they have many abilities that often get overlooked. Some are non-verbal yet have a way of connecting with people that are indescribable. Many of them come from low socioeconomic homes and are ethic minorities.
My Project
These books are all related to good character development. Until recently my school did not have a school counselor. Fortunately, they are creating a school counselor position and I am lucky enough to step into it. However, I have no materials. That will not stop me from delivering the best to my students.
With these books as resources, I will be able to provide examples that are more powerful than just words.
These book align with the districts character development curriculum. I am excited about all the different character development that these books work on. Character development is so very important at this young age and I am so excited to introduce my students to a whole new social emotional curriculum.
