My Students

I teach fourth graders writing, reading and grammar. I teach at a small community school of about 450 students. The community is very close and concerned with the well-being of each student. Our school tries to provide different types of experiences and opportunities for our students. We want our students to be well-rounded and versed in culture, community and academics. We want our students to be prepared for the future and be the best they can be!

The students that I teach are kind, intelligent, curious and full of spunk!

They love to learn and be hands on with activities in the classroom. They are balls of energy and they are always up for a challenge. They work hard and they love harder. The students come from different backgrounds. Some live in subdivisions, some live in trailer parks, some students have five other siblings and some are adopted. These students have such potential. I cannot say enough good things about this group of kids!

My Project

The books that I am requesting for my classroom will provide my students with knowledge, empowerment, and a better understanding of the world around them. The books that I have chosen are books that teach students character traits such as, bravery, courage, and perseverance. Other books teach students about different cultures and their traditions during holidays.

In a world where diversity is all around us, I want my students to be accepting, respectable and tolerant of all individuals and to have good character.

I believe that reading these books and having discussions about these topics will open the mind and hearts of my students. I believe that it is not only my responsibility as a teacher to teach students academic material but I also believe that I need to encourage good character traits and provide information that will build a good foundation of acceptance and tolerance.
