My Students
My classroom is made up of students with a variety of learning disabilities. Most of my students perform at least 2 grade levels behind their current grade level.
My goal is to encourage these students and help them to love school again.
By the time they have reached middle school most have no desire to go to school, low self esteem, and a belief that they are NEVER going to be able to succeed in school.
I want to change that by showing them that their disabilities do not define them and teaching them to find ways they can be successful.
My Project
Through the use of these books, in a class novel study, my students will meet colorful, relatable characters while expanding their vocabulary, increasing their comprehension skills and applying the knowledge of concepts presented in the English Language Arts curriculum.
These books will provide my students with both literary and real world examples perfect for expanding their hearts & minds.
Through a variety of activities, along with the examples presented in these stories, my students will learn about internal conflict, perserverance, and what it means to care for others... lessons that will last a lifetime and extend far beyond the curriculum requirements.
