Our first grade classroom is in perpetual motion. Active minds are curious of all surroundings and learn through experimentation and discovery.
Our class strives to foster a love of learning in the classroom where students build the foundation for educational success.
One student, as he was reading, excitedly exclaimed, "Wow! I am learning so much! I can do it! I can do it!"When the students walk into the classroom I want them to have a variety of books at their fingertips to help them learn and grow.
As a new first grade teacher, our classroom is lacking in chapter books. The books that I am requesting including The Magic Tree House and Junie B. Jones are two titles that students in my class love but have limited access too.
The few books we have for these two series are always in students hands and I simply do not have enough copies to meet the demand of the students who are yearning to read these books.
It is my hope that as I offer more access to these books the students will strive to read at a higher reading level and learn to love reading chapter books.
It is my goal to instill a hunger for reading in each student that enters the classroom. Students who leave first grade with this hunger have a strong foundation for learning for the rest of that child's life.
