My students are a fantastic group of enthusiastic learners. This year will be the second time I have taught many of them due to switching grade levels that I teach. They are like my family!
My class is full of a wonderfully diverse group of kiddos!
We come from several nationalities, neighborhoods, and income levels. We have a large range of learning abilities and styles. We speak so many languages, including English, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Nepali, and more. The one thing that we all have in common is a passion for learning. Our school is a Title I school, so funding is always an issue for us. We don't want to think about money though. We worry about that enough outside of school. We just want to learn, play and have fun.
My Project
I have some very diverse students in my class with a wide range of reading interests. These books will allow my students to work with their classmates in book clubs to read and analyze great literature at their reading level. In addition, the index card boxes will help us to stay organized and know who has checked out which books.
A good selection of books to choose from is crucial for students to develop as strong readers.
It also helps to foster a love of literacy. Adding these titles to our small, but hopefully growing list of book club choices will begin this wonderful journey towards engaging student collaboration. I can't wait to see the analyses, responses, and connections my students will make with these great titles.
