My students consist of two major groups: energetic, spunky, and headstrong versus introverted, cautious, and insightful. I have never had such a range of personalities in my classes before.
Their eagerness to learn is different than my classes in years past, and I have been utterly shocked at their willingness to learn, think deeply, and be challenged.
I tell them all the time that I can see their futures when I look at them. I have future teachers, preachers, business owners, and architects. This is a unique set of children who are hungry for success!
My Project
These flexible seating options will help my students channel their high energy and ambition into their work by allowing them the freedom of natural movement. I spend more time worrying about how students behave in their seats instead of what and how they are learning, and that's not right!
They need the freedom to sit at a desk or table with the wobble chairs, bands, and balance balls.
They also need floor options like lap desks, bean bags, and mats. These options are intended to release my students' stress about being perfectly still and quiet and instead channel that energy into their learning. I don't want perfectly behaved robots. I want engaged learners!
