Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you like to write? If so, where did you get that love of writing? It all starts early in our education. I would like a class full of students who love to write, and are unable to put their pencils down!
I am a teacher at a Title One school in Nevada.
Our school is highly ELL populated. I teach a class of second grade students that are eager to learn. Many of my students do not get the opportunity to read and write at home. Some students dislike writing because it is difficult for them. Getting them to write in class can be similar to pulling teeth.
My Project
As their teacher, I want my students to develop a love of writing. Writing should not be seen as a chore, but something fun and exciting that takes them places. It is important to teach each step of the writing process. It is also important to teach students different genres of writing. How fun would it be to write a letter to a celebrity or create a travel brochure of a state that they would want to visit someday? The resources that I have requested will provide my students with wonderful ways to improve their writing.
The writing resources will not only help my students become better writers, but they will see that writing really isn't that awful.
When I say, "time for writing," students will have smiles on their faces instead of frowns and sighs of frustration.
