My students need a Brother high capacity wireless printer because while we have the ability to research, produce and present information digitally- often times we are unable to print projects or materials needed.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We have a spectacular group of sixth-grade students at our school site. They are vivacious, creative, energetic and kind. My students are the leaders of our campus. This is the first year we have had this grade level on our campus- and they have gone far above all expectations. They have started the first Student Council and led different whole school activities like the Fall Carnival and Red Ribbon Week.
Our classroom is a project-based learning environment, and while often a sighed is garnered from another project planning session- they are thriving and utilizing 21st Century Skills needed to succeed.
Students who have had past reputations have broken free of their labels. They have taken to Genius Hour like fish to water. We have had projects on the schematics of soccer, how to play guitar, famous poets, how to conserve water, and more! We have had past teachers in our room to observe our lessons and all have remarked at how they have seen a change in my students from the year before- they are night and day. We have resident artists, poets, slime connoisseurs, future athletic stars, neurosurgeons, and musicians- and they have delivered TED Talks to prove it!
My Project
Our classroom is a project-based collaborative learning environment. Each month my students are required to research, draft a proposal, write an essay, and deliver the information to an audience on a topic of their choice during our Genius Hour time block. My role in the classroom is to provide a fair, equitable and authentic learning experience. This means that my students are in control of their learning for a set amount of weekly time.
In order to fully function at the standards that are expected, we must have resources- this includes the ability to print on demand.
Our classroom is a one-to-one computing classroom. This means that each of my students has a laptop at their disposal throughout our school hours. While we have the ability to research, produce and present information digitally- often times we are unable to print. The purpose of this grant proposal is to fund a classroom high capacity wireless printer that will allow my students to print on demand.
