Help me give my students objects for flexible seating in our classroom. My kindergarteners are used to sitting on the floor or in their chairs, but the flexible seating options give them more choices.
I work in a diverse school in an urban school district. I feel very fortunate to teach students who were born in the city, but also students who come to Pittsburgh from many other countries. I have the opportunity to learn so much about my students' cultures, that it has a strong impact on my cultural awareness.
"Share your smile with the world.
It's a symbol of friendship and peace." ~Christie Brinkley. When my students walk into our classroom each morning, they always do so with a smile, even if they do not understand English. Smiles are universal and we all work together to keep each other happy and smiling during the course of our school day.
My Project
My students need something more than a traditional classroom setting where their work is always completed at their seats. With the flexible seating my students will be able to work in different areas in our classroom and feel more comfy while working hard. We are asking for different types of seating options such as wobble chairs, cushion seats, and comfy floor seats.
We can also learn how to understand our emotions with the books included in this project which will help us become more productive during our learning.
These books will help us understand our emotions and find coping strategies that we can use in our future learning.
