Do you remember reading from Science text books and not grasping what you have just read? My students are active, hands on learners, who love to participate in fun activities would like to capture their interest and imaginations in the area of science.
I have 21 active students; 10 boys and 11 girls in a public, rural community in the state of New York.
This is my first time teaching 6th grade. My classroom was put together last minute, and therefore we lack many resources. Many students indicate that they do not like the subject of science because it is "boring". I would like to change their opinions and spark a life long interest in the subject of science. Some of my resources are borrowed and are outdated. I would like to bring this subject to life with current, up to date materials.
My Project
The activities I have chosen will allow my students to be actively engaged through hands-on activities, games, and other resources have chosen activities for students for grades 4-6, which allows for grade appropriate activities, as well as for my low achievers and ESL students. It is with hope that I will spark an interest in science and make learning fun. I want to create a base support to enhance prior knowledge, which will carry them though high school and beyond. The activities I have chose align nicely with my curriculum.
I feel that these supplies are extremely important to my students learning process.
They will be able to interact within the classroom environment in both whole group instruction and small group instruction. I especially love the game show chart.
