My students are a wonderful group of children who come from various backgrounds and cultures. Though they attend a Title I school, they are well on their way to changing their minds about how the world works so they can make the future a place for all people. They love to learn new things and ways of seeing the world, and I would love to foster that zest for helping others and being learners for life.
Many of my students have various needs as learners and require many ways and things to help them learn new things.
They love having expanded resources to help them successfully and creatively read and write about their experiences and their learning. As their teacher I love seeing their minds and eyes light up when they have access to resources and experiences that they normally would not. They deserve every opportunity to be successful and will be in their futures.
The materials in my cart will help my students to truly have more personalized learning experiences, through the use of technology in the classroom, and reading about things that interest them. The headphones will allow students to listen to their lessons, and work at their own pace without disturbing others. It will also help keep their learning secured when needed, which is important since I have students at so many levels in their learning.
I cannot say enough about how much my students love Scholastic News magazines.
Exploring the world through engaging, and thought provoking articles about things happening all over the world around them allows them to see and experience stories both online and on paper is fascinating to them. They have choice and that is huge.
The privacy folders also add a sense of privacy and security for students who may be insecure about sharing what they're learning at the time, as well as preventing added distractions to others learning experiences.
The seating will allow students the flexibility to work and read around the room in comfort.
I can't wait for them to use the discussion starters. These will provide sentence starters that allow for focused discussions about their reading. The are going to help so much, especially for my students who like having something in their hands.
