My students need basic school supplies to start the year. This includes storage containers, zip lock bags, glue, pencils, a pencil sharpener, tooth brush holders, book rings, and pencil boxes.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Teaching in a low income/high poverty school means that my students face challenges outside of the ordinary for most elementary students. Despite the challenges they face daily, I strive to provide them with a safe place in the classroom where they can learn, grow, and challenge themselves in meaningful ways.
My students don't have many opportunities at home to learn through exploration, so I bring that into the classroom.
They like to learn about new things and expand their thinking. My goal as their teacher is to provide them with opportunities to become explorers of life and learning.
My Project
For the past year, I have been working as a middle school teacher. Next year, I am making the leap back down to Kindergarten. While, I have taught Kindergarten before, I am in need of replenishing some of the supplies and materials I 'gifted' when I moved up to middle school.
These supplies will help to guarantee that my students and I start the year off with a bang!
We are in need of basic school supplies including glue, pencils, zip lock bags, and more. My favorite item on this list is the tooth brush holder. While this doesn't seem like a typical school item, I will use them to have students store their pencils in, so it will cut down on pencil problems! I am also very excited about the book rings. Students will use these to store helpful information like alphabet lists, writing rubrics, and so much more!
All of the items I am asking for will not only help to organize the classroom better, but it will also provide my students with every opportunity they need to start the foundation of their education.
