My students are engaged in STEM lessons in my science class daily. They apply science, technology, engineering, and math through hands-on lessons, but need help integrating more technology in our lessons.
I teach four classes of 4th graders on a daily basis.
They are active, inquisitive learners. The students enjoy STEM lessons, but have the desire to express themselves artistically. My students are from a suburban area which does not receive art instruction. Although I am not a trained art teacher, I enjoy arts and crafts. I try to add them into the curriculum so my students can receive a well-rounded education.
My science classes participate in STEM lessons daily. One activity they look forward to is when we incorporate art into their science projects. I would like to move my classroom from a STEM only experience to a STEAM learning experience! Many of my students do not have art supplies. By funding this project, all of my students will have equal access to art supplies.
STEAM means Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics.
Art projects allow students to express themselves. They enjoy using their science and math skills in creative, artistic projects.
Students will use class sets of Crayola markers, crayons, colored pencils, and water colors to produce artistic products, which will showcase their learning. Students will make 3D oyster reefs, origami frogs, and water color paintings of the Rock Cycle. Learning science is fun and creative!
