My students need Chromebooks to aide their research.
My students will be conducting research, interviewing students and teachers, creating presentations to redesign our educational experience by creating a researched-based school structure that promotes happiness and education.
Our Slogan, "We Are Hamlin!" doesn't begin to cover the feeling of community and family that every one in our school experiences. Our small school feels 10x its size when we all get together to improve each other. My students especially are always looking for ways to improve our school. They are interested in new and exciting ways to change things up!
These students are constantly pushing for change and improvement in everything that Hamlin does.
When they decide that we can do better, they strive to find all the ways that Hamlin can be the best. Despite the challenges that many of these students face in their daily lives, our school provides an escape of positivity, love, improvement, and strength.
My Project
We will be challenging how education is structured in America. After reading an article about whether school days should be longer or not, my students began questioning why our school is set-up the way it is. Once realizing that America's structure of education hasn't really changed since the 1800s, my students were motivated to create change.
My students need Chrombooks to create a fully researched proposal and presentation that will be presented to people outside of our classroom.
These Chromebooks will allow my students access to many programs and research capabilities they may not otherwise have.
This project will inspire innovation and change in our school's educational structure. My students will be conducting research, blogging, reading, constructing presentations, and drafting a proposal to create a new system of education. Taking inspiration from Finland (the #1 country in education), my students will be trying to prove that less school actually means better education.
My students will debate and explore the benefits and downsides to shorter school days, no homework, and letting "play" be the basis of all learning.
