Our middle school is a home of learning for over 900 amazing students. With around 30 different langues and dialects spoken, there is a wide range of ethnic, economic, linguistic and social backgrounds that these students bring with them each day. As society is ever changing, our students are as well.
For this reason, these hardworking students deserve a classroom that is able to change with them.
Middle school students are constantly changing. My special education students work hard each day to learn the rigorous curriculum, engage in appropriate social interactions, and maintain the fast pace that the school day provides. These special education students put in a great deal of effort to change strategies, skills, and knowledge daily in order to maintain on track with their similar aged peers. Our co-taught setting allows for all students to be included in the classroom. These students are provided instruction from both a general education and special education teacher. Although they are given high quality instruction, these students still require extra tools to support their change. Help these students create change as they are our future leaders!
My Project
As the students in front of me change, it can be hard to find the funding to update the classroom that they learn in. These items that I am requesting will help me create an environment for my students that can help ease the worries many face in their day-to-day lives. I aim to help students calm their anxiety and learn strategies that will help for them to cope with their stresses. By doing so, they can learn to be successful both in the classroom and their lives outside of school. Because we don't know what is going on in each of their lives everyday, it is important to provide a variety of tools to manage stress and energy.
It is my goal to provide students with a variety of learning tools in order to change their educational experience.
These tools will allow my students to learn focus strategies and spend their time and attention on the academics. The flexible seating and pedal bike will allow for students to get out their energy without leaving the classroom. This will put the focus on learning as they no longer have to take a break outside of the room.
