Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am seeking your support in providing motivational materials to assist students in need of social-emotional encouragement, career development, and college awareness.
At Frances E. Carter students participate in many social-emotional building activities such as the Kindness Challenge, Character Building, Restorative Practices, and Circles.
At Frances E. Carter we have a diverse group of children from low social-economic backgrounds. It is a community that incorporates a student population ranging from Pre-k to 8th grade. We have a large Special Education group receiving mandated counseling. Also, currently we have 75 children in temporary housing, which includes shelters. Additionally, we have a large population of English Language Learners from all parts of the world. Despite their low social-economics, temporary housing situations, being new to the country and the culture our students are resilient children that deserve opportunities to encourage social-emotional resiliency.
I am seeking support with providing materials such as motivational books to inspire self-esteem building; fidget toys for students who have trouble focusing and relieving nervous energy; art materials to assist students with anxiety and stress; as well as, software for the middle school students to research careers and build on college awareness.

These materials will assist in social-emotional skill building, such as motivational books to inspire self-esteem growth; fidget toys for trouble focusing and relieving nervousness; art materials to help students with anxiety and stress; as well as, software for the middle school students to research careers and build on college awareness. Your support in providing these materials will provide encouragement and the fundamental skills needed for our students to achieve their highest potential. Due to the school budget deficit of about half a million dollars for the next school year, we lack materials for social-emotional education. For these reasons, we are seeking your help.
