My students need equipment of their own so that we can stop having to borrow from other teams who also need the equipment themselves. This equipment will help us be a better team.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a low-income school that is seeking support for our Unified Track and Field Team. This team consisting of both special education and general education students compete together against other schools in Indiana in a fully sanctioned sport from the IHSAA. This is our third season competing and we are in need of some equipment of our own. To this point, we have had to share with other teams at our school and at tourneys. Over the years, this program had grown from a dozen students on the team to 28 this year. This team allows students to be transformed into people of character through the structure of a team sport that grows them into a family with memories that last. We have never charged a fee for being in our program and would not want to and with support through programs like this, we can continue to make our sport free for all to participate in.
My Project
These resources will help us to be a better team by knowing we have our own resources without having to borrow from others who also need them. This will help to boost morale and help us to be able to time multiple persons (clipboards and timers) in order to be efficient with our time and will also help us with drills (batons and jerseys) when we sometimes can easily forget who is on our teams and for practicing our relays. We don’t have a huge budget for things on our team and don’t charge to participate but without support like this, we will eventually have to start charging for our sport.
