My Students

In a small, rural, economically disadvantaged area, I am always trying to improve the educational experience for my students. Increasing their use and exposure to technology can be a real challenge!

My fourth grade students often know more about the technologies out there than I do!

But rarely do they get to use any of them in an engaging and enriching way for learning. My students come from hardworking families who work hard through our PTA to give students many opportunities to enrich their learning. Unfortunately, technology seems out of reach because of the cost associated with implementing it in every room. I would like to start out with a few options and continue to broaden our students' use of different technologies over time.

My Project

The document camera I requested can be used with smart boards in any room. They are small and portable, and can give students an up-close look at just about anything without trying to gather 20 or so students around a single table. Students can also share their work, projects, and ideas with the whole room. The 3 Nooks will be fantastic for working in small groups, creating motivation for reluctant readers, and can be used to inspire more sharing and learning!

Students will gain a new level of ownership in their learning, consider creative approaches to showing their knowledge or sharing their ideas, and the classroom will become a hub of exciting new opportunities with more technology, thanks to you!
