Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are fun, energetic children who need loads of encouragement, attention, and love. They attend a low-income/highest poverty school, but that does not deviate them from wanting to achieve success. The majority of the school population come from immigrant parents whose first language is other than English. My students are well-deserved, enthusiastic, individualistic children who deserve to benefit from everything life has to offer without worry.
My kiddos have demonstrated an inspirational love for their education.
Everyday I witness perseverance, dedication, and curiosity. I want to give my students all they deserve and more.
My Project
My classroom is in desperate need of books. Without a school library, my students are left with limited resources to improve their reading skills. Many of my students are higher level readers and my classroom library does not include books at their reading level. We need books that could challenge and excite the imagination.
With the new book choices int he class library, students will surely develop a love for reading.
With book series, such as The Inheritance, The Hobbit, and Merlin students will be thrilled to finish a book only to read what will happen in the next one. My students are enthusiastic readers with a thirst for books rich in adventure. My chosen books have what they are looking for.
The majority of my students do not have books at home or are able to visit public libraries. I need to provide them with the tools necessary to succeed in later years. "Reading is FUNdamental", I used to hear as a child. I want to be able to back this phrase with concrete evidence for my students.
