Challenge Students to Think Outside the Box With STEM Activities
My students need building materials, such as Light Stax, KEVA Contraptions: 200 Plank Set, 100 Piece Essentials Value Set and more to solve given problems using hands-on solutions.
My fourth graders are energetic, creative, and eager learners. They come from a predominantly low economic background. These students have little opportunity to explore their creativity and engage in challenging problem solving activities. Please help me to increase their ability to think critically and solve problems through S.T.E.M. activities.
All children, regardless of socioeconomic background, deserve an opportunity for challenging activities that will increase their ability to think critically and solve problems.
I am confident that S.T.E.M. Activity Bins will help the students develop the skills they need for the 21st Century.
These hard working students enjoy working together to solve problems. I would like to provide them with challenging S.T.E.M. activities where they can utilize their analytic thinking skills to problem solve and create innovative solutions.
My Project
Students will utilize various materials to create drawings or models to illustrate how the shape of an object helps it function to solve a given problem. They will also have the opportunity to analyze the data from two objects designed to solve the same problem to compare the strengths and weaknesses of how each performs.
Students will be thinking divergently, inventively, and imaginatively as they solve problems with specific constraints while building specific design skills.
They will be able to build using connecting cubes, blocks, play dough, pipe cleaners, planks and other constructive materials.
Throughout their exploration, students will be sketching their ideas and writing about their progress. When they have completed their tasks, they will analyze their sucesses and failures and present their findings to other classmates.
